This time two years ago Houston was under water!
Tropical storm Allison dumped three feet of rain in
some parts of the city.
And while life has returned to normal for most flood
victims, others want to make sure it doesn't happen
again.
In a neighborhood where children play, nothing was
fun about two years ago.
Frank Lazare and neighbor Lorraine Cherry remember
Allison. "When we left at 3:00 in the morning the
water here in the street was chest high."
Memories that linger.
"I just get terrified whenever it rains. There's
this panic reaction you get when you've been through a
flood."
"At the peak of Allison we'd be in water up to
our chests!"
Enter Vernon Hassel, Larry Dunbar, Shawn Levanthal.
They've teamed up with other flood victims to start a
group, Houston Voters Against Flooding.
They tell us a hundred homes or more may or may be
bought out in that area. Their mission is to hold the
city and county accountable for flooding.
"God makes the rainfall and we control the
runoff and that's what we want to hold the politicians
accountable for."
"Take when a new home goes up, especially in
town. Especially near a bayou. Concerned residents
wonder how could this be."
"People flooded in their homes because their
homes were built in a place they shouldn't been built
and who approved that?"
"I'm concerned we could flood again."
Flooding fears and the fear that children won't be
playing for long.
